"Kanagi-sama, where are we going now?"
Kanagi wasn't walking in the direction of their quarters, but instead towards the Ashen Cult Citadel that resided not too far from here. Quickly taking to the roofs, he pulled Ren'ai with him to hop among the roofs. "Try to keep up." His voice changed slightly, as he seemed to be more possessed then anything. It was something that didn't happen often to Kanagi, and even then, Ren'ai had never seen it before. It seemed to frighten her a bit, but not as much as it would've been if he was fighting. She wouldn't be able to tell what'd happen at this rate...
She continued to try to catch up with him as he became more and more possessed. "Kanagi-sama..."
"Quiet, Ren'ai." He continued traveling, but all of a sudden sped up as if attempting to relinquish conversation. That was his reason, though, and Ren'ai could tell quite easily. Even though she'd only been with Kanagi for 4 days, she understood him too well, seeing that she had been with him every waking moment for the first three. But now, he was changing what he had said before in his meeting with Hebiko. "But I thought that you wanted us to train--"
"I said quiet, Ren'ai."
This was not what he wanted to do. It wasn't his nature to be the type to be a jerk to the one who loved him. His obsession was getting in his way...if only he actually knew what his obsession really was. After all, it made no sense to attempt to beat Hebiko to the Ashen Cult Citadel. It wasn't about the training anymore. He wanted to see them all. He couldn't help but do so. He didn't acknowledge the other one, so there was no way he'd truly acknowledge the Sound Children until he saw the others. Kanagi sighed and slowed down. "Sorry Ren'ai. I'm just a little obsessed with something else. I need to meet another Sound Child...and I think I know where to find him."
Ren'ai finally caught up to him and went beside him. "It's okay Kanagi-sama. I understand."
"I'll make it up to you, Ren'ai."
The Citadel was up ahead. It wasn't something normal to see, and from Akuma's explanation of the Ashen Cult, he needed to be careful of what he did. After all, he couldn't pull the stunts that he pulled at Hebiko's place.
It begins once more.

For one boy actually residing in the large, labyrinthine chambers of the Citadel, today was beginning on a bad foot- his dreams revealing themselves slowly to him.
Ribbons of wild, reckless flame shot up from a wrecked, ruined structure- smoke bellowing up towards the heavens from it. All around the genin's eyes was nothing but red- blazes of destruction tearing everything down...Out of the corner of his eye, he turned about to see a pale, weak hand reaching out from under a pile of rubble. Who is.... He thought, tempted to reach out to the figure- a sudden spike of his memory surging through him.
That's my father...That infidel, that cur, that utter scumbag...HE killed Mom...HE cost me my arm...I'll never forgive him for all that, yet in the end all he gave me that was good was hate...And the power for myself to show the world just what i've become... He thought, turning away from that, his hatred for his so-called 'father' almost becoming too much to bear.
Aimlessly he wandered through the flames, until slowly they all faded away- nothing of them to see anywhere, nothing but darkness remaining. "Lonely darkness...Once again, I have nobody to care for...Nobody who-" He muttered, all-consuming rage slowly giving way to achingly cold sorrow. He turned his eyes to his left, a faint flicker of light catching his eye, illuminating the darkness for an instant. Immediately the light reshaped itself into the form of a beautiful female in the middle of her twenties, long black silken hair flowing gently behind her and azure blue eyes staring straight at Shun'ens. To him, the female seemed to emit almost an aura of light.
A mother...Someone who actually cares...Someone who thinks you're truly special, and can give you the gift of love... He thought, looking into her distant eyes, his own welling up with tears. I'd give the world for that again...That's why I have my rings, Aishou and Kioku...To remember my sorrow, my everlasting want for that love...And how i'm going to make the world shake with my force that was borne from it! He thought, a single tear slipping from his cheek.
With that, his eyes opened- the whole ordeal being, in truth, nothing but a simple dream. He sighed, slowly dragging himself out of his bed, forcing himself to dress as usual. His mind was elsewhere as he headed for the door- his eyes looking dazedly at the intricate ceiling. In fact, he almost forgot to eat- managing to snag an apple into his hands before leaving.
He didn't feel obligated to go far for now...He was thinking about all kinds of things. Most importantly, however, was how badly he wanted to have his mother again- to have love, someone there to console him...He remembered all the cold days he'd spent in alleyways and the like- not having found a suitable living space until not too long ago. ...What sorrows dost thou store for me, o life? What pains and trials, what joys and elations, what battles will I have to wage... He thought, sitting on the lowest step of the Cidadel's stairs, quickly taking a bite of the apple, a finger tracing against the black obsidian underfoot.
Whatever life's got in store for me...I know I shan't fear, not after Shima...I know i'll overcome it... He mouthed to himself, trying to console his own dampened spirit with some sense of hope- it sadly not working as well as he'd hope.

They were now walking. As they entered the Citadel, it was obvious to see that this was a place beyond normal reasoning. It's sights and thw way people were...they had a strange aura about them. But Kanagi didn't feel as if it was threatening. At least, not yet. He knew, through Akuma, that these people weren't just going to attack him for no reason. He was actually quite safe here, considering the scenario. Ren'ai huddled close to him. She never saw this type of dress before, and assumed they were sorcerors of some kind. She gripped his arm a little tighter, and that's when he began to notice. He tapped her on the head to distract her glare.
"For one, don't stare. It only makes you seem like the crazy one."
He chuckled a bit and then moved his arm away, making some space between them. "And calm down. You can't be afraid of everything that's unusual or strange to you. That's how the world is at times."
Ren'ai nodded and let go of his arm, still not wishing to say a word. She would at least brave it out for Kanagi...at least. But as they continued to walk through the streets, it seemed more like they were walking in random directions rather than towards a certain goal. She wasn't afraid of the actual people, as Kanagi-sama told her not to be; she was afraid of being lost in the place. She did not show it too much in her face, only a small sign of worry. "Kanagi-sama..."
She blushed slightly...he wasn't mad anymore. She had this weird feeling when he called her that. It started 2 days ago when he found her name a little too strange to pronounce. She told him he could call her anything at that time, but because it was the nickname he picked for her...it was a bit more special. "Where are we going?"
"To the synagogue."
"I used a bunshin when I was talking to Hebiko. What I really did was make a copy of the map of the Sound Village. That's why I decided not to drink after he offered the saucer, and I didn't look at you the entire time. I took time to copy the map down, and it's on this card. It tells me where his teammate, Shun'en, lives."
05-19-2005, 03:18 PM
For a while, Shun'en simply sat in silence, taking small bites out of the apple in his hand, his eyes scrutizing every square inch of his steel-coated arm. If it wasn't for Mother, I probably wouldn't be able to become a shinobi...I'd be without this, and without a home...I probably would've died on those accursed streets, too... He thought, finally finishing off the apple. He disposed of the rind in silence, looking up towards the sky. He blinked once, looking at the few clouds passing by- trying to bring shapes to them, something to get his mind off the stormcloud that was raining on his mental parade.
He stood silently, almost statuesque as he observed the clouds floating through the air. I just hope that being part of these Sound Children will reap something well for me... He thought, shaking his head. For once in his life, things were starting to look good- alebit very slowly- yet he was still depressed about his past. "I need to take a walk..." He muttered, standing up and stretching, walking in silence back through the Citadel. He never seemed to pay heed to the people frequently walking through the area- in fact, he pretty much just walked about, around, and inbetween the throng of Cultists and commoners- and anyone that happened to be there as well.
He finally stopped just outside of the synagogue in the Citadel, looking softly back and forth. Nobody seemed to pay him any attention, just as he did the same- he was a golden-haired specter to them, ever floating about the halls and gardens, looking for someone or something. He hmphed to himself, turning instead to admire the building he was by. "The six of us...I wonder how the other three have done so far? Especially Bousatsu, he was a lively guy..." he thought out loud, his mood beginning to sink- his mind turning to other things. "I wonder if Hebiko is joining the Cult soon? Knowing his egotistical ways, I wouldn't be suprised..." He said to nobody, chuckling dryly. The humor didn't last for long, and too soon he slumped back against the wall, depression setting in once again.
"And what about me...What's Kairi-dono have in store for me..."
05-19-2005, 04:04 PM
"So do you know what this guy looks like?"
Ren'ai was now more than ever drawn into Kanagi. There was something about him this time around that was much more...confident. That was the best word for it, confident. She smiled slightly, and took on the task of finding the biggest purpose in the entire project that he was doing. He laughed and then turned his head to her. "No problem. Akuma said he always wears this metal gauntlet that reaches all the way up to his shoulder. Though that seems more like a replacement arm to me than anything else."
Ren'ai nodded in agreement and began to walk more intune with him, as his walking became more brisk. He was closer. The synagogue was just up ahead, and it wasn't too long until he'd finally reach the--
Kanagi made a quite evil chuckle at this point in time.
As the name was sent a slight pitch of wind made a sound as a shaken flew towards the Genin, aimed at his right side. He knew how the Genin would most likely defend himself, but he needed to be discreet on the attack, simply because they were at the synagogue. But if anything, if all went well, there would be no trace of an apprehension or the aggresive greeting. Kanagi just couldn't help himself. The chance of meeting a Genin that might actually meet his standards actually pushed him to test that very standard. And he did.
Now it was time to see whether the kid passed or failed.
05-19-2005, 04:53 PM
Shun'en sighed in silence, closing his eyes and relaxing slightly. He wasn't in a very sociable mood, and his mind quickly was slipping into a semi-consious daze. Well, today's going to be a waste...Though a day off after all that's happened since I joined this team...T'wouldn't be too much of a waste to just eat and hit the sack. He thought, yawning softly and almost slipping into a light slumber. He was so used to ignoring any passerby in the Citadel that he completely failed to notice the green-eyed stranger and his female compaion until it was too late.
His hearing- acute from years of listening to self-preformed music, able to pick up things as commonly overlooked as if it was too sharp or flat- picked up the sound of something approaching him at projectile speeds, slicing up the wind just to his right. Both of his eyes opened swiftly, and he rolled to the left, keeping low to the ground, avoiding the projectile by an instant. The shaken had just barely avoided clipping off a few hairs from his ponytail, bouncing against the wall of the building with a loud clang and falling to the floor faintly. Shun'en silently growled, picking up the weapon and standing up. The first figures to catch his eye, seeming to stick right out of the croud were Kanagi and Ren'ai, his own brown eyes staring peircingly into the other genin's green ones. They were right in the way of when it was fired- just to his right and a slight distance off. He said nothing for the first moment, resisting the urge to punch this guy's lights out- instead calmly approaching, holding out his hand with the shaken in it.
"I'm presuming this is yours? Not just anyone carries about projectile weapons in a place like this. What the heck was that about, and who are you? We're both Sound Shinobi, and i'd be willing to bet you're a Genin or Chuunin...Regardless, there's really no need to be throwing weapons about..." he sternly said, looking about at the croud- some of which were staring at them now from the loud clang that had eminated from the shaken impacting at the wall. "Especially with all these people about..." He said quietly, sighing. His eyes then turned to the female, briefly staring at her, then turning to Kanagi again.
In his mind, he really had shrugged off the girl's presence, having a hunch she was with Kanagi. It wasn't that she wasn't pretty to him- in fact, she was quite the cutie in his view, especially with her current garb- he just had never really been attracted to people in that way. It was odd, yes, but it was just the way his mind ticked. Well, looks like I got that break... He thought sarcastically, relaxing ever-so-slightly- his left hand at Aishou- and waiting for a response.
05-19-2005, 07:52 PM
Kanagi smirked slightly in delight. He dodged it. Not when he intended to do, but at least he was able to detect it with his eyes closed. Not bad...not bad at all. His argument came up pretty quickly as he picked up the shaken, but it was all the same when Kanagi made his reply to the rather awakened Genin.
"It was only a flick of the wrist. I can do it without making a large detection in movement. Of course, someone can notice the wind from the actual throw, but that would obviously require someone who is actually paying attention, like my dear."
He gestured towards Ren'ai politely and took the shaken back from the Half Metal. "Sorry about that though. Nothing personal, but I was more than excited to meet the other member of the team. Team Akujin is what I believe it was called." The shaken returned to place of which it came, and his aura of sheer and bitter excitement died down. Ren'ai felt it temporarily, but thought nothing of it. Kanagi-sama is just changing, she would think to herself. It wasn't too serious to try and see his fellow Sound Child.
He offered a hand to pick him, with a more sincere smile on his face. "The name is Kanagi...Sansai Kanagi."
05-20-2005, 01:38 AM
The blond-haired genin slowly sighed as he returned the single shaken to Kanagi, his stress slowly bubbling back down. This guy wasn't hostile, then- he wore Sound's headband, and he definately had the skills to be a major asset to the country. Asides from that, the two of them- Kanagi and his 'dear'- just didn't seem to be like everyone else here. They both had this sort of...sensation of power to him. Kanagi seemed to be concealing some definate heat, that potential attack seemed to be too easy. And Ren'ai just didn't seem real- as if she wasn't a human, but more of a ghost. He slowly shook off the feeling as he distantly heard Kanagi talk, only bothering to recall himself to attention when a phrase went and piqued both his ear and intrest:
"Sorry about that though. Nothing personal, but I was more than excited to meet the other member of the team. Team Akujin is what I believe it was called."
Shun'en automatically nodded, replying with a simple "Apology accepted..." distantly, his mind suddenly springing into motion again as he heard Kanagi's mention of his team. So that would make this guy a Child of Sound...But there's six of us- i've never seen this guy in Sound at all! Is he a seventh member? Or more like a replacement? he thought worriedly, before bringing himself back to respond, only to have a hand held out at him.
"The name is Kanagi...Sansai Kanagi."
A slight smile crept across Shun'ens face from that. He reached out to return the motion, nodding once and staring at the two of them. Shortly after, he began to speak himself. "So...You, Kanagi, are one of Sound's Children...If that's the case, and you've seen the rest of my team, egotism and all, there's no doubt you know my name to be Zokuyou Shun'en. So that saves some time. I don't think i've ever seen you about the village...Where do you come from? What business brings you here to ol' me? Tis' not like I get a new face about daily for my enjoyment..." He curiously spoke, his initial sense of alarm and slight oddity in the sight of the two quickly fading away as he became more comfortable around them.
Wonder what tricks this guy's got up his sleeve... he thought, smirking on the inside.
05-20-2005, 07:25 PM
Kanagi looked at Shun'en with a strange face as he pulled him up. "All of your team? Maybe most, cause obviously 2 out of 3 is almost all..." His visage changed immediately as if acting, and turned to Ren'ai. "I'm not telling him, so you better not." It was a large way to manipulate the Genin into interest. With his time in Sound and with Akuma, he was learning to manipulate the mind almost easily. If only his Sharingan could make his ability easier...but he shook the thought from his mind quickly. The slight gap between speaking was good for manipulation, but it was also awkward.
"Either way, I did meet Hebiko, more than likely the egotism you're referring to. Unfortunately, I did not have the reasoning to prove him wrong, as I didn't go to him to fight, but to merely manipulate him into getting what I wanted. Besides, from the information I got out of him...it seems he depends on Higure and the Ashen Cult more than anything. I suppose he believes I depend on Akuma, but I do not. I only depend on my skills--"
He was interrupted by a pull on his arm. He stopped, made a smile and scratched the back of his head in embarrasement. "My apologies. I forgot to introduce my companion, Ren'ai. In all truths, despite her beauty, she's only a summon--ow!"
The moment was ruined as Ren'ai pinched his muscle. "Sorry. She loves me, and apparently...love hurts." A bad pun in this example, but there was no need to keep a serious face in front of this boy. After all, there needed to be a time in which he could simply...relax. "I'd like to take down information on you, but I kind of have a problem...I'm out of cards. I'd like to return them to my place and then sort them out there. Afterwards I was hoping to get a new deck, and place all my personel information in them, leaving the other information at home."
Ren'ai gave him a look...why couldn't I come with him?! Why does he need to have this guy do it?
"Want to come?"
I see how it is.
A burst of smoke followed Ren'ai's grunt of dissatisfaction. "I suppose we're on our own," Kanagi said, shrugging. "Apparently she's jealous. I'll show her my new place when we get there, if you agree to come along."
05-20-2005, 08:18 PM
Shun'en simply listened, stretching his back idly- yawning a bit as the joints in his spine faintly pop. The gears in his mind subconsisously were clicking along, his thoughts straying to other things. I've always wondered why Kairi picked us six...I mean, he said we had a lot more potential compared to normal people, but all I got is this ruddy arm...What's ol' Kanagi got? He wondered, the conversation proceeding.
"Either way, I did meet Hebiko, more than likely the egotism you're referring to...Besides, from the information I got out of him...it seems he depends on Higure and the Ashen Cult more than anything."
Shun'en chuckled inwardly his mood finally beginning to lighten. Hit the nail on the head there pretty much there, pal... He thought, his smile growing warmer as they went on. "Well, that would explain his swollen ego- Higure's a bit like him, but he actually has some skills- I would know, it kinda leaves a mark on you when you get hurtled into a tree with one blow..." He cut in, a shaky smirk gracing his face, giggling embaressedly. His smile then turned to the female, yanking playfully at Kanagi's side.
"My apologies. I forgot to introduce my companion, Ren'ai. In all truths, despite her beauty, she's only a summon--ow!"
Shun'en couldn't help but burst in warm laughter from the pinch at his arm, yet his amusement was mixed with odd shock. "You know a summoning technique? Wow...I've heard of them, but whenever I thought of a technique that could bring creatures forth to do your bidding, I always thought of like dragons, something more mythical...Didn't know they could be humans too!" He said even more embaressedly, scratching at the back of his head. Gods, i'm looking like an iiidiot.. he mentally quipped at himself, curtly bowing to the female. "Either way, pleasure to meet you, Ren'ai."
"I'd like to take down information on you, but I kind of have a problem...I'm out of cards."
Shun'en just felt even more idiotic now, the concept seeming rather odd. "My information...on a card?" he said, blinking- before remembering about a technique like that. "Ahh, I know what you mean now, apologies...I'm rather spotty on techniques..." In his mind, he was ready to beat himself silly. You need to study those sometimes! God, you dolt! he mentally shouted, rolling his eyes slightly and sighing.
"Want to come?"
He was about to speak in consent, before a cloud of smoke spat up from where Ren'ai was- or now had been- standing, Shun'en forcing out another awkard smirk at Kanagi. "Quite the calm type, eh...? But in all seriousness, i'd be fine with tagging along with 'ya to your house. As you probably know- since you were able to find me and all- I really don't have a home of my own, I just board here." he plainly stated, shrugging and walking off away from the synagogue, turning to Kanagi and smiling. "Ah, ya, sorry. Lead the way!" He said quickly, stopping and waiting for him to take the lead.
Wonder if he's got a nice house.
05-20-2005, 11:17 PM
Kanagi walked briskly through the streets, assuming that Shun'en would follow. He'd have to apologize to Ren'ai later, but I suppose it would be best if she didn't hear about Kyousei from him without speaking to her one on one. Of course, he needed to know what the hell that thing was. It was hard to believe that the work of machinery on that arm was not simply a gauntlet. But he wondered...if that machinery was truly and utterly simply a piece of armor. If it was...he could figure out some sort of use for it. As a matter of fact, if this was the case for most of the Sound Children, he'd be more than happy to experiment with these things. With the ability to see things with a better perspective, if he couldn't copy it, but he'd be able to at least have an understanding. His assumptions weren't helping.
Remember..."when you assume, you make an ASS out of U and ME." Assuming needs to stop...at least this large scale type. Wake up Kanagi...you are a Child of Sound. Act like you have some sense.
Kanagi nodded to himself and weaved through a set of 5 people, grabbing onto the gauntlet with his hand and charging chakra into it. It could automatically be assumed that he was reinforcing the hold. Instead, the real test was being put, as he began to feel exactly what was going on. Usually, when chakra reaches another person, the chakra signatures sort of communicate. Therefore...even if the signal isn't as strong as it should be, it is the same as having a plate of armor.
As he finished pulling him through the small group he released his grip and continued to walk. "So," he began, looking at his hand, "what is that...thing...?"
05-21-2005, 12:04 AM
The blonde genin showed no hesitation once Kanagi had gotten ahead- his own steps brisk and lively. Slowly though, his mind strayed back to the thought of how exactly Kanagi fit into the team. If he's part of the Sound Children, he's either a replacement or a new addition, that's obvious...But if he's an addition, that means the teams would be unbalanced...He could be a replacement, then...But who would be replaced? Yukakari? Eiji? Or Bousatsu...? They all were pretty darn powerful, and that means ol' Kanagi here must be exceptional to get admission... He sighed, continuing his thoughts on like this as they walked, before finally shrugging it off and just not bothering. You'll bust a vein thinking about this too much, just let it go... He mentally stated, finally agreeing and focusing more on walking. He did so in silence, until they approached a throng of people- Kanagi yanking on his armored arm, dragging him along.
He didn't notice it immediately, but it didn't take him for him to make notice of the slight spike of chakra Kanagi was charging through the gauntlet. Mentally he winced, subtly trying to pry himself away, not wanting to unintentionally set off the Guantlet and stun some people...Alas, to his dismay, several of the ports sprang open with Kanagi's chakra, a very shrill, yet soft, note eminating from it- bordering on the edge of inaudible from it's extremely high frequency. Shun'en winced to himself, quickly rushing through the croud- his free hand around one of the open ports, at least trying to muffle the noise. Once Kanagi let go, however, it was of no significance- the note died down, and the ports slid closed.
"So, what is that...thing...?"
The frazzled genin was rubbing at his forehead- having developed a very slight headache from the note- when he realized Kanagi had both spoken and moved on. He sped up his pace to almost a jog, reaching to Kanagi's side. He pointed to his metal-coated armor, smiling slightly. "This is called the Kanjouinyuu Kougake- the Empathy Gauntlet. A long while back- like, years ago- I had a liiitle bit of a nasty fall, and so my arm pretty much got maimed. If it wasn't for this geinus of technology, I probably wouldn't be able to be a shinobi. Essentially what it does is- of course, keep my arm safe from any more abuse- but it also acts like a flute, in a weird way. Allow me to demonstrate..." He stated, letting a gentle amount of chakra flow down his right arm.
Several of the ports slid open and closed, playing a light little chime. "By controlling and molding the chakra into the gauntlet, I can open the little slits, releasing compressed air- which in turn produces sound. As odd as it may sound, it works suprisingly well- You could say I can literally dance to my own beat!" He cheerily said, laughing faintly. "So yes, I still have a flesh-and-blood arm; yes, I can take it off; and no, don't expect me to. Any other queries ya' got about it?" He quickly mentioned, a playful smirk painted across his face- still in motion, keeping as near as to Kanagi as he could in the crouds.
05-29-2005, 09:21 AM
Kanagi shrugged. It was slightly useful, but it had less on it than he originally thought. Less power, that is. His queries were put to rest when he was shown the weapon, and that was all there was to it. If anything, though, he would rather keep his own weapon. It was stronger, at least, in the amount of uses. That was the key to it all.
They finally reached the outside of the Citadel, and Kanagi grinned slightly as he realized that they were allowed to run from here on out. But it was more than that. He knew that they needed to go get some material. And that he would do for at least a good portion of the day. "Hey, let's get those cards." With that, he began to burst forward into the distance of the Sound Village, with the burst of chakra at his feet. To have this kid run after him was good for them both. Kanagi hadn't run in two days, and this seemed like a time, more than anything, for him to do so. That was the choice that he was able to agree with, and especially, agreeing with Kyousei.
The card place was to the west, near the gate that the meeting place was being held. It was a nice location, a place that had most shinobi necessities and the staples of daily life. Kanagi moved towards that area and landed not far from the shop.
"Need anything for yourself?"
05-29-2005, 11:09 AM
Shun'en shrugged slightly, following Kanagi in silence to the outsides of the Citadel. His eyes calmly looked around, his mind straying off as they progressed. I wonder where this guy came from...if he was a native of Sound. I definately don't look the part at least- Hell, I stick out like a sore thumb here. He looks more like it, though. Shun'en shrugged off the thoughts, idly humming until they passed the edge of the citadel.
"Hey, let's get those cards."
Just as the genin turned to him to reply, he was already gone- bolting across towards Sound. A wide smirk spread across the Genin's face, crouching down slightly, tearing off hastily in pursuit of him. "Oh no you don't, bloke!" He shouted out at him, keeping low to the ground- closing in to him even more. Don't think you'll outrun me, bud... He thought, practically stride for stride with him. Just as they neared the shop, he turned to the other Genin and smiled widely. "You're definately fast, that's for sure!" He happily stated, giving him a thumbs-up.
"Need anything for yourself?"
Shun'en shook his left hand slightly, shrugging. "Eh, i'm fine- I don't need anything. got my kunai and my rings- Yup, i'm good." He stated, shrugging and relaxing slightly. "Get what you need, i'm not going anywhere any time soon. He quipped, chuckling softly.
05-29-2005, 03:26 PM
Kanagi nodded and went off without another word. He took a last glance at the weapon when he left, turning his head to make sure he got a full glimpse of it. He did not walk, nor did he move briskly. Instead he began to use his fluidity training and quickly flow through the crowds, weaving left and right as if they were an ocean, and he was the dolphin. The card shop was somewhere around here...but it was in front of him before he realized it and almost didn't stop in time. He fell over in front of the table and unto a deck of cards. His hands fumbled to save the cards, and as he looked at them, they seemed to be fine. Looking up, the man in charge looked down on him.
"...I'll take these."
He reached into his pocket and took out the amount of money needed and placed it on the table. Regaining his composure, he smiled and placed his hand on the card on top and charged chakra into it. The other cards followed immediately, and they became a deck again. The deck was picked up and placed into his other pocket. It was quicker than planned, but there still the issue of heading to his place.
"I'm ready." He said this with little hesitation and motioned to the north. "Let's head to my place for a bit now."
06-01-2005, 03:27 PM
Shun'en stretched slightly as Kanagi weaved through the croud, walking into the small shop and vanishing from view. He decided to take advantage of the small wait, sitting down on a bench on the side of the street. His eyes scanned all the people walking through the busy streets, humming softly to himself yet again. All the people, going about on their busy lives...I'm sure plenty of them know about the Ashen Cult, and how destructive the Sound Shinobi can be...But I doubt that many of them know about us Sound Children...? They go on their lives, oblivious to the darkness swirling about them..Things like Shima. A slight smirk crossed his lips, his mental train of thought recalling something they had all been reminded of.
It's like...Was it Higure that said it? He said that we were all on parts of a chess board- No, not just one, many...I'm the pawn of Kairi's board, we all are...But i'm going to be sure that I reach the other side, become a more powerful piece. He nodded softly in realization, his gaze turning to the croud- Kanagi approaching him from the crowd.
"Let's head to my place for a bit now."
Shun'en stood slowly, walking towards the direction he had gestured, before turning back and smiling softly at Kanagi. "Lead the way," he matter-of-factly stated, waiting for him to come. When he resumed his walking however, his mind slipped into a state of curiosity yet again. For a Sound Shinobi, he definately does look like he's from here, yet something just...doesn't seem right, in a way. I'm curious to just what this Genin can do that landed him a spot on the team. But how to find out? He thought, his feet slowing a little in his deep thinking- only quickening to catch up after an idea hit. Why not just spar with him? That'd work, but when...Should I just ask him? He thought, feeling if anything a little silly, his feet slowing down again. Okay, just ask him after he gives a tour of the house! Simple as that. He thought, bringing his attention to the real world. He hastily jogged up to Kanagi again, shakily smirking at him.
"Sorry about that. Was thinking about something else."
06-18-2005, 11:01 AM
Kanagi nodded and started off by hopping onto the edge of a tent and swinging himself up. Chakra guided his feet to prevent shifting and his body took off into one single direction. He wanted to apologize to Ren'ai, but he didn't have the chakra ability to do so at the moment. He used quite a bit already today, and summoning her, whether she liked it or not, drew a bit out of him. He'd wait until later on in the day when his chakra recovered.
Shun'en's mind seemed preoccupied before they left. It shouldn't have been a large concern, but it was certainly something that Kanagi took to knowledge. After all, he still needed to keep his head straight in case that desire came up again...to spar. Hebiko didn't prove to be much in that area from just the aura alone. He seemed to have something else to him, something that didn't shout 'fighter'. Fighters have the aura, that they need to communicate with their fists, something Rensu and Kanagi had, and it was pulsing against the other.
"Shun'en...do you suppose...we could spar after I show you the place?"
The words came out without much trouble, and it was obvious that there was more than just a desire to fight in his voice. The face remained emotionless, but the tone was that of an interested person.
Rooftops and booths were all the same to Kanagi as he dashed through the air. In all truth, his house wasn't too far from the marketplace. Before he knew it, they had reached the place. A grin carved through the lack of emotion as Kanagi 'missed' the edge of a rooftop and fell down between two buildings. A somersault set his feet against the wall of one, and pushed off of it to jump into the window of the other; his home.
06-18-2005, 02:33 PM
Shun'en duplicated each and every one of Kanagi's moves, following just as swiftly throughout the marketplace rooftops. He smiled contentedly to himself, just enjoying their rush to the other Genin's house. For once, he wasn't so focused upon what was his destination, and was truly just having fun. A few notes echoed out against his lips, and he quietly hummed a light tune to himself. Once again, they traveled in silence, until Kanagi began to speak.
"Shun'en...do you suppose...we could spar after I show you the place?"
His internal soundtrack stopped, and a giddy smile crossed his face. "No problem at all, Kanagi...In fact, after we were through with your tour- I was going to ask you the same question!" He replied, chuckling almost childishly. He continued in silence, his thoughts flickering to himself. Finally, a chance to spar with another of the Sound Children...Someone truly on my level...And he was an addition to the group, so to get noticed so late means he has to definately have some credentials... He thought excitedly, reaching down and idly running a thumb against one of his kunai. And guessing by the way he moves...I wonder if he's a Taijutsu user? He queried in silence, shrugging off the thought and continuing on.
They proceeded in that manner- leaping from rooftop to rooftop- for a decent measure of time. Shun'en's mind had already wandered to random, inane things- and he almost completely missed the fact that Kanagi wasn't ahead of him anymore. What the... He muttered, looking about dazedly. He then turned around, looking over the edge of the building he was on, just in time to see Kanagi leap through an open window. "Ohh...Well, that was painfully obvious." He said, smirking to himself and laughing lightly. He then nodded, leaping off the roof he was on into the gap, chakra coating his feet. He extended them out just in time to land on the wall opposite Kanagi's house- standing perfectly parallel to the ground. "Hellooo in there!" He called out comedically, chuckling to himself. He then leapt into the window, standing up fully inside the building and nodding to Kanagi.
"It's safe to assume this is your home...?" He intriguedly said, looking about the place. "It's nice...Then again, I wouldn't truly know, seeing the fact that I've been living on the streets for about...Well, a while now. That's a diffrent story though, and I believe you were going to show me around?" He said, shrugging softly and relaxing a little.
06-20-2005, 03:17 AM
Kanagi looked at his humble abode. Yes, this was the place. This was the place that he would live in from now on, whether it be with Ren'ai or some roommate he'd pick up somewhere around here. It could happen, but with the lack of lax, there probably wouldn't be a person willing to even ask to be a roommate. It was understandable. After all, the Sound Village was a proud village and had reason to be.
His mind had strayed once more, being snapped back into reality by a request to tour the house. He nodded quietly, and moved his arm, sweeping the room. It was quiet barren for what he had called the main living quarters and had said it was so. It was true. The room had nothing more than a couple of chairs to look out of the window, and the rest of the place had a faint feel of chakra, as if someone were practicing in this room.
"So, as you can see, nothing much here. The other rooms aren't anything, though they gave me an extra bedroom and a more than mediocre kitchen. Do what you want if you want anything. I'm grabbing my weapon now."
He walked into what looked like his bedroom, leaving Shun'en to do what he needed to do...whatever it was. Kanagi had no care for the matter. At least he gave him a chance.
06-20-2005, 03:23 PM
Shun'en walked gently about the main room, shrugging contentedly. The residence was almost completely empty, save for the sparce furniture he noticed and some extra rooms. Either way, he mentally noted, It's a lot better off then where i'm stuck at. And he has a kitchen too, I gotta mooch off whoever I can find for some food... He looked back at Kanagi, smiling faintly. "Well again, nice place..." He said, turning and looking about some more- only to stop when he heard Kanagi speak again.
"...Do what you want if you want anything. I'm grabbing my weapon now."
An excited smirk crossed the Genin's face at this, cracking his knuckles slightly. "I don't need anything, go ahead." he briefly stated, letting Kanagi go off to another room. He grinned to himself, pulling out one of his rings and gently twirling it about in his hand. After a little of that, he looked down at the Empathy Gauntlet- focusing a slight spark of chakra, allowing some of the ports to open. He smiled, playing a very faint scale, then stopping the chakra flow. "Okay, that's working good..." He said, stretching slightly and sitting down in a chair. He gently began to tap his foot against the floor, humming subconsisously to himself. "Whenever you're ready, Kanagi." He called out into the house, resuming his faint hum.
06-25-2005, 05:17 PM
It didn't take long for Kanagi to find the weapon he had left in the house today; Ren'ai's bright idea. The golden weapon was in his hands without delay, and Kanagi began to set half the other set of cards down. Most of the old cards were simply seals, but in this set, there would only be people's information. And Shun'en would be the first on his new deck. He'd transfer the old ones later on into the new deck to keep a sense of organization in the place. He'd do at least that much.
"I'm ready," he called with a lowly voice. Remembering that Shun'en felt that he was fine, he wasted no time in tossing him one of his old cards through the door at his metal arm. It wasn't blank; he had already revealed the information. The information was pertaining to Hebiko. Estimated physical attributes, opinions, the sorts of things he needed to keep. Showing Shun'en had a different purpose. "That's your teammate right? Is it accurate?"
The very low rating given on the card was seemingly a joke, but Kanagi was serious...he didn't see or feel anything from that person, nor did he even sense an intent of violence. It was quite appaling to have one such as him in the Sound Children, and he began to ponder the reason why he was accepted and kept in this team of the "Sound Six".
He nodded to him and exited out the same window that was his entrance. There would be no time wasted when the fight began...just a straight out brawl.
06-25-2005, 05:48 PM
The only thing of attention to Shun'en at that point was the gentle rustling noises heard from the far room that Kanagi had departed to. He continued to stand idly, shifting positions boredly every so often. He had actually began to nod off slightly in his standing position- if it wasn't for the card hurtling straight for his arm. He heard it whistle through the air, quickly snatching it right before it contacted with him. If he had learned anything from his training with Akujin, it was to always keep your guard up for projectiles. He intriguedly raised the card to his face to examine- it showing a picture of Hebiko and several vital statistics. His lips curled up into a slight smirk as he noticed the very low rating given to Hebiko, his eyes glancing over at the card's origin.
"That's your teammate right? Is it accurate?"
The genin briefly nodded in consent, looking over the card intriguedly. "Yeah, i'm on a team with him...For the most part, yeah, looks right. Though, if anything, I'd give him at least some credit for tactical knowledge- He has an ego the size of a mountain, and can't really back it up as far as i've seen...But he does quite the strategist's mind and a good deal of knowledge as far as jutsus- Water Walking, at least- go." He said, slightly shrugging as he saw his opponent head out the window, a golden spear in hand. What an intresting weapon that is...Hrm, gonna have fun battling this guy, that's for sure. He silently thought, following suit- tossing the card back at Kanagi.
"Here's your card back. I'm ready to get this party going whenever you are." He stated briefly, turning to him and twirling both rings at his sides briefly, his legs slightly spread and bent, ready to manuver at a moment's notice. Let's see what you can do, Kanagi...
06-26-2005, 05:24 AM
So he wants to fight here, eh? Kanagi smirked as he did noted the fighting position. It was more than enough to see this happen at last, but he found it even more interesting when Shun'en prepped a set of rings. Rings were the last thing he expected to see the Genin use, but then again, being common wasn't what made one a member of the Sound Children. Kanagi's hand reached his pocket and touched the card there, adding information to Shun'en's card.
"So you wanna just go straight at it?"
They were upon his roof, with only a gap 10 feet wide between his roof and his neighbors. "I'm good with that."
Kanagi's hands went behind his back. In them he found 2 shaken in each hand, and strings within those. Satisfied with the setup, he strafed to the left and dashed forward towards Shun'en, throwing one shaken and hopping to the right before dashing again. Shun'en was close now, and Kanagi's fist began to aim at his opponent's chest.

"So you wanna just go straight at it?"
A wide smirk crossed the Genin's face at this point, nodding consentingly at the query. "That's fine with me!" He consented- his eyes widening slightly as Kanagi decided to make the first move. A quick strafe to the left, followed by a launched shaken. His face curled up into a slight growl, remembering his first training session with Akujin- in which he had intentionally blocked his body from a kunai with his good hand- which made him even more irked. Not again! he mentally shouted, raising one of his rings up and slamming it straight down- smack into the ceiling, it making a small dent.
His composure- and mood- recovered, he turned the other way, Kanagi's arm aimed for impacting on his chest. In a sudden whirl of motion, the Gauntlet sprang to life, playing a fast-paced techno song. His glare at Kanagi changed as well, to a mocking, excited smirk. He then ducked down and to the left of the fist, rolling away a slight distance. He then pulled out his two rings, several seals flashing across them as he mentally incanted the seals he needed for his jutsu. "Shuppon no Kuruma (Flight of the Wheel)." He silently whispered, hurling out both of his rings- one aimed for either side of Kanagi. He then pulled out a kunai for self-defense, knowing that even if the rings weren't to hit- they'd boomerang right back for him.
((OOC: As a personal reference I used The Man With the Machine Gun from Final Fantasy 8 as battle musid- but the reader is free to use whatever techno song they think necessary...Soyeah.))

Kanagi's visage changed, turning into more of a focused look more than a simple smirk. After all, he had to test this kid to his full potential. He wanted to determine one things in general: whether the Sound Children were really something to be proud to be in. He wouldn't bother with the girl, but at least this kid showed potential. They had the same fire, to fight with the beat of their fists. The beat of the music emitting from the arm made things interesting, as it was a light matter, and to have music to go with it.
As the rings came towards him, he only found them to be troublesome as he ended up leaping forward below them. As he dove under them, head first, his left hand reached the ground and planted on the roof of the building and turned as the entire body of Kanagi twisted so his legs came straight at Shun'en. He wanted to make this a Taijutsu fight, just to see who was stronger in hand-to-hand combat. He wanted to see a style, or something to be amazed by. The wheels were impressive, but he could imitate them. He wanted to see what this kid could do. He wanted to see it all.
He was obsessed.
07-15-2005, 01:39 AM
Shun'ens face went slightly white in alarm of the sudden change in Kanagi. He realized that it wasn't just a simple spar, that Kanagi wanted to see the limits of him. His face turned determined as well, the smirk purging itself hastily from his face. You want to see my limits, Kanagi...Then let's do this... He mentally started, his body tensing as Kanagi readied his first attack. He quickly sprung upwards over the Genin- not a particuarially high jump, just one to evade the blow- smirking as his rings returned to him- missing Kanagi completely- but retiring them and the kunai from the battle on his hasty descent.
The genin's lip curled upwards now, already ready to make his move. His quickly kneeled on one leg, sending the other one shooting towards his side in an attempt to knock Kanagi's hand down from it's support. He grinned, following up the sweep by thrusting both his fists towards Kanagi's chest, keeping purely determined. He fought back his urge to smirk at the Genin, knowing this was something well past any spar he'd ever dealt with before- and he wasn't going to flee from any challenge now.
07-15-2005, 02:00 AM
The face of the Genin stayed the same as he found himself losing his grip on the ground he had used as support by a sweep from the Genin. It was a good manuever. He wasn't running away, and he wasn't playing it safe. He got in good and hard.
The second part of the counterattack was beautiful, as he was struck in the stomach. This stopped his movement altogether, but set him up for something special as a counter to the wonderful and satisfying attack that came upon him.
"Nice," he coughed as he lost a bit of his breath. His right hand threw the shaken that hadn't been thrown as of yet towards the back of the other Genin as they seemed to be sprawled on the floor. Kanagi's right hand twitched as he grabbed Shun'en's arm with his left. The shaken came around again, going around Shun'en's body and digging into the floor of their "sparring grounds". With this Kanagi found an opening for him to twist his lower body with and change the kick forward into a kick into the air.
The string broke as he performed the kick, knocking the Genin through the weak barrier. Relieved that the weight of the Genin wasn't on him anymore, Kanagi flew into the air following him using the Kage Buyou. A smile escaped his lips and he took a deep breath. "You'll survive," he said before placing his hand on Shun'en's back. The first kick came as he pushed him downwards. A punch came afterwards, then a second.
The last kick, using the leg as the weapon to finish it. It was a light kick, however.
What the hell was that? It was looking good until that last kick! Why did you--
Yo...we're fighting on my damn house.
07-15-2005, 02:37 AM
Shun'en's eyes widened in panic as he saw the shaken fling about his back, coiling about and pinning him to the ground. He grunted, knowing he was about to get a faceful of abuse. And that he did, getting launched up into the air from the blow, the wire shattering about him. "You'll survive." he could hear, a sudden anger flaring up inside Shun'en. No DUH, i'll survive... He thought irritably- his body contorting in pain from the first blow, launching him downwards-
the second one, right in the small of his back-
the third, launching him downwards as well-
and then the last one, a kick to the chest, impacting him against the roof. His face curled up into a snarl from the last blow- way too weak. Fatal flaw. A cold voice rang through his skull, laying on the ground after the last strike. He hurt from that assault, that was for sure- but a sudden force had woke up in him, and he didn't- he wasn't going to lose. His body suddenly wrenched him up to the ground, his right hand starting to pulsate with sonic energy. He had no desire to use his rings for this technique, knowing it would be almost useless as a result. This was not a match of weapons- this was a straight-up brawl.
Regardless, he rocketed towards Kanagi with a sudden haste, as if his utter rage was drawing out the best in him. Just as he reached Kanagi, his right leg spiraled downwards, bending down to sweep fully across the roof. This however, was a feint- the genin twisting himself all the way around with that foot, then springing upwards off his left foot- still centered- and reeling about to hit Kanagi hard in the chest with another double fist blow again.
His intense stare locked on Kanagi from the blow, and he had no urge to stop there. His arms immediately recoiled, punching back and unleashing a flurry of upward blows into the Uchiha's chest- aiming to knock him into the air, his body straightly vertical to the ground. Following up, he too hopped into the air, rearing back- his hand twirling with excess sound waves- and peircing straight into the Uchiha's chest, knocking him away. His sonic force released into both of them, sending a lessened- though still painful- blaze of sonic energy across their flesh."Gekijou Enji- Nenshou Ame (Fury Ring- Burning Rain)." He called out, dropping downwards onto the rooftop. Shun'en scowled from the pain sweeping about the inside of his metal-encased arm, panting slightly- yet knowing that was the price for not using his rings for that move.
07-15-2005, 03:06 AM
Kanagi was loving this. The sweeping kick came towards him and he hopped over it, but it swept around, the sweep turned into a series of kicks into the air. The first one his, but each one after that managed to be blocked as Kanagi caught onto the repetitiveness instantly and was able to at least defend most of the attacks. But as he went higher into the air, it was more then enough to realize that there was something larger going on.
And there was.
A near sonic boom attack that tore up the flesh of the Uchiha as this happened. Cuts appeared all over his chest, and the attack would've sent him away if he didn't grab onto the arm with his arms, making an awkward position in the air. The hands made the Tiger seal, holding Shun'en's arm with the arms that helped make the hand seal, and blew out a small orb of flame onto his hands.
For those with Doujutsu, they would be able to see a revolving force around Kanagi's hands. The force was the pressure from his Taijutsu style. Combining with the flame, he held that arm with his right hand and let off a huge fist of flame and pressure from his left hand into Shun'en's chest. The flame and pressure caused the wind packets to expand, creating an explosion the potential of a note.
Another suicide-like attack, sending them both away this time. Kanagi experienced cuts all across his left arm, and he managed to land on the building next to his, skidding on his rear end at the most to avoid a nastier landing.
07-15-2005, 03:26 AM
A smirk- escaping Shun'ens attempts at self-restraint- slipped his lips as his own blow impacted into the Uchiha's chest, skin torn asunder from the sonic impact. He relished the sight of the abuse he dealt from that one blow- his mirth suddenly cut off suddenly as he realized he was caught in a counter of his own. His jaw pretty much dropped as he saw Kanagi spew out an orb of crimson flame, realizing he was wide open for the blow- and doing nothing but wincing for the impact. All he could do was grunt as the orb was smashed into his chest- the strike setting off a large enough reaction, and then-
The explosion rattled throughout the neighborhood- or at least anyone anywhere near Kanagi's house- as the two genins were flung away from eachother. Shun'en grunted heavily, his body rattling as he sailed completely over Kanagi's house, sliding all the way across the next one- just barely screeching to a halt on the edge of that house, his clothes tattered and slashed all over from the sheer force of that blow. His chest was on fire, and his right arm burned from his sonic assault- yet he somehow managed to lift himself up, looking across the buildings towards Kanagi, panting fatiguedly...
And smiling. It was if pure happiness had surged into him from the explosion, the realization that this guy was truly strong. This guy...He's something else, he's really a hell of a Genin... He thought dazedly, bending over and bursting out into a set of warm, almost childish laughs inbetween his gasps of air. After he managed to calm himself enough, he was still bearing a blissful, wide smile towards the Uchiha.
"...Kanagi...That was absolutely incredible. I've never felt so alive as I did just then as you did that...You're the strongest Genin i've ever encountered, hands-down...and I have one other thing to say..." He stated, swaggering towards the gap and hopping across as he spoke, ending on Kanagi's roof.
"Welcome to the Sound Six. We're gonna show this world some REAL power come the Chuunins!" He said, pumping his fist in the air excitedly. "This world is gonna SHAKE, and that was just the first tremor!" He extatically proclaimed, chuckling briefly between heavy pants of air.
The Sound Six are coming, all you Genins out there- Just you wait."
07-15-2005, 03:46 AM
Kanagi's pants could be heard echoing throughout the area as well, and his entire torso was ripped and naked for the world to see. The wind blew throughout the neighborhood, and then lifting his head to look upon his roof, he breathed a sigh of relief as it wasn't seriously damaged, nor did any damage that would hinder the living conditions occur.
Shun'en spoke first, and he was glad to see the kid in the same if not similar condition as himself. Seems like the spar is over...
As Shun'en stood up, Kanagi struggled to do that same. His head hung low, peering at his torn and battered chest with a smile on his face with a wince of pain here and there. He chuckled a bit as he was welcomed into the Sound Children properly by this boy, and he knew that coming here wasn't a mistake, and meeting him and Akuma were things he would end up enjoying in the end. He never had this kind of setup before, and he was never in a situation quite like this except against a Jounin.
He raised his hand after finally gaining balance on his feet, his head still hanging low. "We have to...do this...again...sometime..."
Yeah...this is where I need to be.
If only Shun'en knew...that he had just caused Kanagi to plant his roots.
