Default [Mist Chuunin] Tsunkida Yoi

Name: Tsunkida Yoi
Age: 22
Sex: Female
Height: 5'1"

Character Type: Shinobi

Country/Village: Kirigakure
Rank: Chuunin
Division: Sailer

Physical Description:
To say Yoi is short is an understatement, she's tiny. Everything about her seems small, her meagerly endowed chest, her slim body, even her muscle mass but the milk chocolate comes down to her mid thigh. No strand is out of place, her grooming letting split ends crop up either. Most of her strength lies in her legs due to her choice in tai style, thighs and calves rather fine tuned. Usually she wears just a hint of glossy clear lip balm and a few spruces of mascara to her long eyelashes. The gentle face and pleading brown eyes all a facade. The true marks of her masochistic demeanor are in light raised scars that are scattered all over her body but her clothing usually covers them up. Like an organic appendage a cigarette is either perched on her lips or between her fingers.

Every day, rain or shine, day off or mission Yoi wears the same thing. A loose brown themed camou jacket hangs over a tight black midriff showing shirt with a turtle neck collar. The cargo pants are the same color, tucked into black solid boots. Gloves come half way up her arms with dark green straps, a wolf armband around her left upper arm. The belt has a variety of pouches hanging off the back, black sashed hitai-ate hanging off the side without a care. Weights strapped to her ankles inside of the boots are removeable, but only if she truly feels its necessary. Its not uncommon to find a cigarette either hanging from her lightly gloss kissed lips or between her fingers since she is a chronic smoker.

No one else in the world matters more to Yoi than Yoi. She's selfish, inconsiderate, and greedy. There's always a look of irritated boredom on her face, as if the world just isn't good enough for her. As expected she has a problem with authority, believing her way is the best way. She has no hesitation to kick a man while he's down, wanting to be thorough and doing anything to win. More often than not, she'll leap before she looks. Even while she's fighting she looks bored, even if she's being beaten into a bloody pulp.

Any one who meets her thinks she's a callous bitch, her commanding officers think she's at risk for becoming a missing-nin. Other than death, there's little that can stop Yoi when she's pissed off and there's some one around to take a beating. Due to her abbrasive behavior, practically unable to be tamed, she's a loner and doesn't mind it. More than once its crossed her mind to leave water country, the only thing holding her back is an unconscious loyalty to the village due to her parents having given their lives thus she feels obligated to do the same.

Primary Archetype:
Archetypes: Cavalier – Maverick
Combo Special: For Stamina/10 posts per thread, the Masochist can literally ignore all pain and turn it into a pleasurable feeling.
Description: Masochists just don't make sense, plain and simple. They do the oddest of things when alone - which is most of the time. With a somewhat deviant attitude, they enjoy rebelling against social norms as well as duties expected of them. They aren't necessarily treasonous, but they have a harder time following orders to a T. On the battlefield, they have been described as demons. Without self restraint, Masochists are a tornado of deadly Ninjutsu, cackling madly until the bitter end.

Eerie Ears
The user has a strange talent for hearing. They are capable of remembering sounds almost perfectly, and are capable of filtering out the ones that matter from those that don’t. In a crowded room they could focus their ears and eavesdrop on a whispered conversation, or listen for the footsteps of a stalker that they know is there. They must actively focus to make this work, and so it is rarely useful if they are caught by surprise.

In the case of nature versus nuture in the upbringing of a child, Tsunkida Yoi is a product of both. She knows little about her parents, the only confirmed details of them being shinobi, combat hungry, and dead. That was about as much as any one knew. It could be said that this is the reason of Yoi's demeanor, yet the same could be said of her upbringing. At a young age she was shoved into a corner of an orphanage until the caretakers remembered after a few years she was old enough to enroll in the Academy. The true nuture part of the argument begins there.

Kirigakure is infamous for its harsher standards and stricter practices when it came to students. Thankfully the event of having to kill a fellow classmate to graduate had been repealed. Since she was an orphan Yoi often acted out, which resulted in punishment, but it only goaded her on to make more trouble. Time and time again she interrupted classes, bullied other kids, and had low grades. The only thing actually keeping her from failure was her grasp on combat, of which she took a liking to a fusion of Bloodstained Footsteps and Precision Fist, making her blows not only quick but powerful with explosions. The proficiency and rate of application of study in the two styles kept her from being expelled.

Many many hours went into practicing the two styles, combining them to make her a better fighter. She wasn't one for book and scroll studies, but her tai skills were blossoming quite well. Time and time again she managed to either win the day's one on one spars, or turn it into a draw, losing was never an option. It was remarkable that even at her young age she could take quite the beating and not surrender. Her teachers knew she'd make a formidable soldier, they just needed a way to keep her in line and so far nothing was working. They literally tried everything they could, short of kicking her out and physical harm. The pain of being alone in the world despite being surrounded by other children didn't equal to any amount of punishment they could give.

When it came time for graduation, and the fight against another classmate, it was all too easy for Yoi. If it had been a written exam, or something of the like, she would have definitely failed. Combat was her best attribute, every nin needed a grasp on it of course, but Yoi had a death grip. Quite literally she beat her opponent into the ground, still kicking him while he was down, the proctors having to step in before she killed him. She wasn't proud of graduating, she was glad she could finally get into the field and get into fights for her life. The lust for battle was the same self destructive path her parents took all those years ago.

As a genin Yoi had the same problems. She picked on her fellow teammates, argued with her team leader, and even refused to show up to missions a couple of times. Unless she was promised some form of combat, she wasn't interested. Years went by of the same old thing, the only changes being in her demeanor. As a child was she loud, boisterous, and explosive in manner. But over time she turned quiet, self absorbed, and ignored commands with a dismissive attitude. To put it plainly, she had grown bored of Kirigakure and all its trimmings, starting to wonder if there was more to be had.

When it came time for the chuunin exams she was held back due to her behaviors in the past. Though she was an outstanding fighter, there was no point in potentially promoting a soldier who didn't take orders. With a new influx of Academy students Yoi was placed with different teams and leaders, yet nothing was able to tame her. For a while it seemed as if she'd always be a genin despite her skills being far beyond the rank's standards.

A change didn't occur until Yoi saw just what she was missing out on. Old teammates were handed more difficult missions, dealing with more combat, and above all outranking her. The Seagull war was as eventful as ever. She wanted a piece of the action and she knew she had to learn to listen in order for that to happen. On a new team with considerably younger genin and a team leader who had dealt with her before, no one expected her to last more than a month but when two went by people started to scratch their heads. The little devil was actually early to missions, still argumentative but followed orders, and no longer picked on her fellow genin. Time was the only thing she needed to prove her point that she could have more responsibility.

Two, three, then five years went by. Yoi had started to mesh so well she was nearly forgotten about, slipping through the cracks of the system. More genin had come and gone thus she was moved from team to team yet there was never a problem that couldn't be handled. The Seagull war had drawn to a close, a new Mizukage in place, but she hardly seemed to notice other than the utter drop in physical confrontations to embark on. Now with more time on her hands she took up drinking and smoking, a somewhat dampner on the itch for pain.

At eighteen years old Yoi was still a genin though her skill set was of a chuunin rank. There had been talk of sending her to the exams, held in Konoha that year, but it was decided she was too old and too experienced. Plus, sending such an aged nin to an event where she was easily four to five years older than the average would look downright disgraceful to Kirigakure. After six years of assignments, a major attitude change after three, she had proven she could be a valuable soldier. As a front lineman on an open battlefield she did well, having seen a real change in Yoi, and thusly promoting her.

For the past four years Yoi's been some what managable. With the harder missions, rougher combat, and generally tougher assignments she's been somewhat subdued. But those times in the field were few and far between due to the oppressive Water Lord. Yoi could only smoke and drink so much to lessen the hunger for battle, taking up sparring on a level of potential self destruction. But she's hardly argumentative, listening to commands though there is slight hesitation, and keeps to herself for the most part.

When she's not on missions she can be found at one of the local bars and drinking herself under the table in a solemn corner, sleeping in her hammock at home, or standing at the main gates of the village and just staring out while smoking a cigarette. Some believe she's just itching to run, most don't know why she hasn't yet. Yoi won't leave, not yet if she ever does, her parents died for the village thus she feels obligated to do the same even if she doesn't like it. She's just waiting for the explosion between the nin and the rest of water country.
