Default [Cloud Sergeant] Hanairo Natsume

Name: Hanairo "Hana" Natsume
Alias: Kurosaki Nanashi
Age: 20
Sex: Female
Height: 6'1"

Character Type: Shinobi
Country/Village: Rai no Kuni/Kumogakure
Rank: Sergeant
Division: Intelligence - International Relations

Personality: On the surface Hana seems like a good little soldier, and an acceptable Hakushouku. Despite a slightly immature streak, a side effect of having not been allowed to be childish when she was actually younger, she obeys orders, respects her superiors and is oft the first one to lend a hand to those in need both in a personal and military capacity. The perfect mix of friendly and professional. Of course, its all nonsense. She learned to fake subservience and obedience to get the clan elders off her back, and she makes friends quickly because as thin skinned as she is she couldn’t stand to have enemies.

In truth though, while she thinks she was once genuinely kind, she is getting of tired of people coming to her for help, taking advantage of her, knowing she's too timid to say no, too neurotic to risk upsetting people, too paranoid to risk losing anyone else. And completely fed up of having to respect and take orders from the man who literally gave the order that killed her brother and teammate mere seconds after it had been given, having to fight to not speak up when people keep praising that same man as the saviour of Hidden Cloud, driving herself insane having to reconcile her hatred of what he did against the admiration and affection she has for him having been her teacher. And speaking of teachers, what about the asshole of a Sensei that as soon as the three way war broke out decided he had better things to do than look after the children who needed him more than ever as the world they knew broke around them. And don’t even get her started on the way everyone looks at her, judging her, the first “Red Fool” of the modern academy system, thinking that she should have been the one who should have died in all those disasters, why did the idiot get to survive when the braver, stronger children died. They don’t need to say it, she can tell they’re thinking it, and she doesn't care that everyone says it doesn't matter anymore, that the titles are meaningless outside of the academy and it was over seven years ago Hana no one cares about it anymore its all in your head and…

Well, needless to say, she has issues. Mercifully though, she has a rather good coping strategy thanks to her work in the International Relations division. While every operative is in theory ready to serve undercover anywhere, most commonly each one ends up having a sort of speciality; its simply more practical that way, if you have an agent who spent five years in Leaf building up networks of contacts and building trust with the locals, they’d be the one you’d send back there if you had a subsequent need, they’re already trusted and have an established reputation, half the jobs done already. Hana’s personal speciality, is infiltrating groups of Missing-Nin, and it comes very easily to her. She’d always had a romanticised obsession with Missing-Nin anyway, captivated by the freedom that on the surface they appeared to have over regular Shinobi, answering to no one and free to live as they please; an obsession that grants her a kind of empathy that lets her get close to them on most occasions. But more than that, her invented persona, known as ‘Nanashi', provides her an outlet for all her negative thoughts and feelings about her home country. ‘Nanashi’ is crass, sarcastic, insubordinate, has little to no patience for fools, and has a rather nasty streak when it comes to dealing with people who try and judge her as she feels they do Hana.

While coming across as the perfect fuel for a therapists retirement fund, its a system that seems to work for her. Venting her feelings as Nanashi only endears her further to the Missing-nin ‘community’ such as it is, while also enabling her to function more genuinely and serve the village better herself as Hana, the weight of her conflicting feelings not looming over her unexpressed as they would be otherwise.

Physical Description: Despite her height Hana manages to avoid looking particularly intimidating, being neither wirey enough to make her stature appear unnatural, nor bulked out with enough real muscle to appear amazonian. Her preference for speed and agility over raw strength is clear from simply looking at her, her physique closer to that of a dancer or gymnast than a true warrior. Wide eyed, full of wonder, and usually with a smile on her face, Hana sits happily at a level of attractiveness akin to the ‘pretty girl next door’ where whether she is just another pretty face in a crowd or stands out amongst the others is entirely down to how she chooses to style and hold herself at that particular moment, a duality that suits her work just fine. Her hair, a usually auburn mess of waves and curls, mostly falls down her back like a waterfall, though she keeps some of it across her face to hide her heterochromia lest it draw attention to her when she's trying to keep a low profile, choosing normally to keep the bluer of her two eyes on show.

Her skin, that she insists is porcelain rather than simply pale, while mostly clear aside from a scattering of freckles across her face and chest, is not completely free from the telltale marks of her chosen career; scars of various sizes adorn her body, many tinted with an unnatural silver shine from having been healed by engineering and alchemy rather than medical science. Unbeknownst to most though, is the fact that her porcelain and rosy complexion is due to great effort on her part, and not exactly natural. While once she did truly possess such a complexion, having her blood replaced with the silver liquid of the alchemical serum drained her of what little colour she had, not that anyone not close to her would know, as its a fact she chooses to cover up with cosmetics rather convincingly.

When working undercover as ‘Nanashi’, Hana makes subtle changes to her appearance and mannerisms to more accurately display the adopted persona of her Missing-Nin alter ego. Where Hana is wide eyed, Nanashi has a more jaded, cynical gaze that looks ready to roll her eyes at any moment; where Hana has a slight dip in her posture to not loom above her comrades too much, Nanashi stands tall and confident; Hana’s body language lends itself to being friendly and open, Nanashi’s is essentially bemused or bored, more than anything else. The most jarring difference though is her skin. Gone is the careful cosmetic cover up of her unsettling pallor, instead Nanshi embraces it, making the sickly colour even more obvious with dark makeup across her eyes to highlight the contrast, blood red lipstick to draw focus away from what little pink might remain, and rich blonde hair that acts as gold in contrast to her bloods silver colour. Its no wonder that even those who have seen both persona’s in action rarely get closer to the truth than at best suspecting they might be closely related.

Cruelly, or at least uncharitably, there are rumours that say Hana’s height, looks, physique and assets might all be the result of using the Sakoshi metamorphic serum on herself, rather than anything natural on her part, but Hana herself denies it.

Clothing: Clothing-wise, Hana is a simple creature and while possessing a vast and varied wardrobe full of outfits for any occasion, she more often than not finds herself falling back on a single old favourite. And why not? Its comfy, looks good, and she can move around in it as much as she needs to. The outfit in question is a short sleeved hooded dress that stops shortly below her hips that she wears in two flavours. The first, white with silvered trim to be in line with the fashions of her clan, that she wears when visiting the mountain temples and has her family emblem on the back; and the other, her real favourite, is a black number with red trim, adorned with red clouds to symbolise her home country and her being a graduate of Aka, the red academy. Naturally, she denies any other meaning to the red cloud pattern, and its certainly not a private act of rebellion on her part where she looked through all her books and case-files on Missing-nin for the last century to find a pattern from an ancient and obscure group that she could wear with a legitimate excuse. That would be childish.

To satisfy both her clan’s, and Cloud’s own, regulations about on-duty attire she wears the symbol of the Hakushouku as a silver earring on one ear, and the twin lightning bolts of the Daishou hang from the other while her rank chevron sits on a pendant with her dog tags, usually tucked into her dress unless someone directly asks to see. For slightly more formal missions, she wears her intelligence issue dark blue flak jacket open over the top of her dress. As for her hitae-ate, her own cracked one sits around one wrist, the metal plate having been bent to form a bracelet, and the recovered hitae-ate of her former teammates both sit in a similar fashion on the opposite. She also has an odd habit of not wearing shoes as she skates above the ground on magnetic force most of the time, so feels she has no real need for them, but does have a pair of knee high combat boots sealed away with her weapons ready to wear if she ever does.

“Spear of Destiny”
Mockingly named after the murder weapon used by Kurosaki Onimaru, this ‘spear’ is in fact a two metre staff, rather than spear, wrapped in lightweight mesh reinforced fabric creating an ‘armoured scroll’ that can be unrolled to block incoming attacks like a giant shield. The weapon also has an additional form that of a large sword of fairly ornate design. In all forms, the weapon is capable of coating itself with the element of the Hakushouku, the volatile and explosive Gurou, which much like the clans Jutsu, turns the weapon pitch black and surrounds it with an electromagnetic aurora effect that increases the weapons reach. In addition, the weapons are capable of becoming translucent at her whim; on top of making the sword and staff harder to see in a fight, it also means her vision is not blocked when completely hiding behind the weapon as a shield, allowing her to keep track of enemies and attacks.
The weapon has a personal meaning to Hana, the mesh that reinforces the unrolled portions of the staff having come from the wire weaponry of her dead teammate, and the sword having been forged from the ruined blades of her dead brother, and as such the weapon has been designed to be self repairing with the help of Sakoshi technology.
Cost: 4 Large Shield + 0 Combined Scroll (Shinobi Kit) + 1 Morph - Pole Weapon + 1 Morph - Large Blade +1 Repair + 2 Obscured + 1 Gurou coating (Elemental Weapon: electromagnetism) + 0 Gurou Volatility (Explosive tags: Shinobi Kit) = 4 + 1 + 1 + 2 + 1 = 10

“Modified Hitae-Ate”
Hana wears the three hitae-ate of Team#3 as bracelets, having separated the metal plates and then having shaped and welded them into loops to fit her wrists. On the inside of each she has engraved various seals allowing them all to act as sealing tags. She usually uses them to store her weapons, shinobi kit, and engineering/medical tools.
Cost: 0 Hiate-Ate (Shinobi Kit) + 0 Sealing tags (Shinobi Kit) = 0 (x3)

Item Points Remaining: 0/10 [1 stat point sacrificed]

Other Info: Hana has a particular mental 'scar' of sorts from her time in the war. Upon activating her doujutsu the first thing she sees is always a disembodied flash of the energy of Shinsei and Kairai, in the twisted and pain contorted moments just before they were turned to ash by Kyo. Choosing to barely ever mention it, she has thus far avoided any therapy or counselling that might alleviate the condition, or even discover any other symptoms of trauma she may be hiding; using her medical knowledge to fake her way through regular checkups with 'healthy' answers.
