Default [Leaf Genin] - Kiki

Oh you had forethought, you could reason/And saw your road and where it led,
And early wise and brave in season/Put the pistol to your head.

Oh soon, and better so than later
After long disgrace and scorn,
You shot dead the household traitor,
The soul that should not have been born.

Name: Kaido "Kiki" Itsuki
Age: 13
Sex: Female
Height: 5'1"

Character Type: Shinobi

Country/Village: Konohagakure
Rank: Genin
Division: Hada

Appearance: Always endeavoring to keep people away from her, Kiki takes pains to make herself look undesirable. Her thin black hair is streaked with cheap blue dye and always bound in a sloppy, stubby bun at the back of her head. To offset her soulful brown eyes Kiki underlines her lids with what looks like black eye—normally meant to prevent sun glare. Even with her girlish nose and cute mouth, the effect is intimidating. It doesn't help that the girl is missing a top tooth on the right side.

Kiki is pale, scarred, and leaner and meaner than other kids her age. She's not skinny, she's undernourished; she's not delicate, she's brittle—but hell if the girl'll let you figure that out. Her jutting ribs are padded by two or three undershirts before Kiki even considers pulling on one her signature black tees. It helps her hide her size, even with the slits the genin normally cuts to mimic a skeleton’s torso. To this Kiki pairs battered cargo shorts and the smallest pair of combat boots in existence. The girl completes the look with a collection of colorful bangles and bracelets she's collected over the years.

Personality: For as long as Itsuki can remember, she's been frustrated. She hates her family, she hates her peers, she hates her life. Over the years this has translated to a very angry, very impatient little girl. Kiki's just as likely to insult a teammate as she is to sit moodily and glare, plotting all the while how to best get comrades into trouble. Mischief brings her her greatest joy; the girl views it as a chance to inflict her irritation on others. Her dissatisfaction with everything doesn't stop at other people, though; there are times when Kiki loathes nothing more than herself and that little voice in her head.

The one urging her to hit harder.

Clan/Bloodline: N/A
Archetypes: Harbringer
The Harbinger cannot be caught off guard by an ambush. Before the enemy surprise attack happens, he/she will be overcome by a strange feeling to alert them of danger. They won't know exactly where it will come from or in what form it will take, but they simply know that they've been targeted by a stranger's malicious intent. Can only be used one per thread.

Kiki couldn't see, couldn't hear, couldn't think. The cries of the helpless and dying were joining with the chaotic sounds of the melee to create a roaring cacophony that made it nearly impossible to concentrate on anything other than her own mortality. She was vulnerable; she was weak. Her grandmother had screamed it at her retreating back when the news had come in the form of battered messengers through their decrepit slice of the village.

Konohagakure was overrun.

But Kiki, eleven years old and bursting with the smug pride of her recent promotion, hadn't listened.

The genin regretted her hastiness now, even if her childish obstinacy still wouldn't let her admit it. Here in the streets, with the screams growing ever closer, Kiki had never felt more unprepared. She felt small, helpless in a way she couldn't explain. The kunai she knew had never failed her seemed somehow useless in the face of the approaching mob.

The cold comfort of sharp metal was one thing, but the uneven staccato of approaching death was a sound that couldn't be soothed by mere daggers.
Kaido Itsuki knew, deep in her bones, that her life wasn't meant to be this way. That she wasn't supposed to be living in a tenant house with her sisters and grandmother; wasn't born for the rags she wore. Itsuki knew, deep down, that her past had somehow strayed from its intended course.

Even at the tender age of six, Itsuki knew that her life was wrong.

She noticed it first at the shinobi academy the girl had bullied her sisters into enrolling her at, in the way her half-starved framed didn't match the full figures of her classmates. They never looked hunted like she did, never checked behind them when leaving a room. They were fat, they were lazy, they were so—pampered. Itsuki found it disgusting. It was almost as repulsing as the way their parents fawned over them—the useless brats, what had they ever done that was worthwhile? what had they done that she hadn't?—always fondling and hugging and so goddamn encouraging. It made the girl sick. Affection only weakened the soul.

And Itsuki would have given anything to share in their weakness.

But Kiki hadn't simply run blindly into the streets; the genin had used what little time she had had since the main gate had fallen to rig what simple traps she could. Caltrops, trip wires—razor sharp, of course—she hadn't been able to mock up anything much better than basic, but they had learned in field training that a mob's IQ decreased with every member added.

The smoke blanketing Konoha opened and suddenly there they were, eyes glazed and steps faltering. Kiki couldn't keep herself from counting in her head; if what her instructors had told her about group mentality was true, her opponents would have had trouble scraping enough brain activity together to pass as a vegetable. But the genin wasn't thinking numbers for long. Her streaming eyes were focused on the vivid red painted across the zombies' hands and clothing.

Unable to control the sound, the girl whimpered quietly. Her racing heart froze mid-beat when, as one, the group turned to shadowy hiding place in the gutter. Kiki didn't have time to cry out a second time before the mindless crowd quickened its march, coming straight towards her.

The genin turned and ran.
The lean slum crawler hadn't been the only one to notice the difference between her and her classmates, and, as all children are, they were quick to exploit her upbringing's shortcomings. Itsuki was teased unceasingly from her first day at the academy, a decision that her peers would soon come to regret. The new sewer rat might have smelled bad or struggled to learn her letters, but in the arena of cruelty there was no quicker learner. Itsuki fought back with words and punches, jibes and jabs, and refused to rest until all who had looked down on her had been put into place.

The unprecedented ferociousness the girl treated the other children with soon earned her the moniker Kiki: dreadful; ghastly; offensive; disliked. Itsuki wore it with pride. It kept her classmates from bothering her, the younger students in awe... but after the brave had been bullied into submission, Itsuki found herself at a loss.

Her studies proved no great challenge to the girl: she got by on natural talent and a total lack of restraint during practical application. To keep herself entertained in lessons, little Kiki turned to actively causing mischief and, when at all possible, getting other kids in trouble for it. It earned her the outright hatred of many of her classmates, but nothing even approaching the loathing the girl felt towards the other students. Her confusion and jealously of their families, of their stupid perfect lives had poisoned Itsuki's view of the other children. Her cruel schemes meant to get her classmates into trouble were as much vendettas as they were entertainment.

But besides her hatred, there was always something pushing Kiki, telling her to take her malice to the next level.

She tried to ignore it.

Kiki didn't know where these things had come from, but the bastards just kept coming. She had see a few fall over the trip wire, had seen them be trampled by their own comrades, but somehow their numbers continued climbing. It was confusing and aggravating and terrifying as hell, and the genin knew that she couldn't keep running much longer. Sooner or later she was going to have to turn and fight.

A burning building in front of the girl collapsed, blocking the street with flaming detritus.

Looks like "sooner" has come.

The girl swiveled to face the mob with her heart pounding in her throat. They were closer than she had thought—oh god, faster, too—she was going to fucking die.

Anger at the unfairness of it all tearing at her, Kiki screamed and raised her kunai just as the mob reached her. The echo of her rage came back to the genin through the flames as an animalistic roar and suddenly the crowd in front of Kiki flickered. She didn't have time to wonder where her opponents had gone when the last remaining enemy barreled into her.

Even though the man's hands were around Kiki's throat she had the presence of mind to dig her feet in, to change the direction of their momentum. The two tumbled over backwards and rolled through the burning debris, both man and child taking damage from the flames. Kiki kept rolling when she felt his hands slip away, extinguishing her clothing as best she could on the cobbles.

He had kept rolling, too, but apparently no one had ever taught the man fire prevention.

Kiki should have gotten up, run away, but she found she couldn't tear her eyes away from the sight as the man was slowly devoured by the flames. She watched the way his skin blistered and cracked, soaked up how his body twitched and convulsed, observed the way his muscles melted with a terrifying level of attention that would have the girl waking up covered with cold sweat for months.

The first person Itsuki saw die suffered an agonizing death, and she could do nothing but keep herself from edging closer.

Yes... even at eleven years old, Kaido Itsuki knew that something about her life was wrong.

Right you guessed the rising morrow
And scorned to tread the mire you must:
Dust’s your wages, son of sorrow,
But men may come to worse than dust.

Souls undone, undoing others,—
Long time since the tale began.
You would not live to wrong your brothers:
Oh lad, you died as fits a man.

The bio is really strong, stronger than a lot of your work. I'd like some more elaboration on the personality--but she's 11, so I can't exactly be picky. Half-Approved.
