These swaps are intended for a Mist Jounin i plan to create. He will be a sword fighter, and i plan for him to excel at fighting other water-element users, maybe a sort of Hunter-nin or a defense against rebelious water-users.

Name: Myou Assaku (Dark Compression)

Description: A technique used by Mist shinobi who are not to keen at the Mizu Soujuu (Water Manipulation) technique, or who simply believe that you should always be prepared. It is a passive ability that allows the user to compress a dam’s worth of water into a gourd/container/etc. As more water is compressed the water’s color becomes darker and darker until it eventually becomes black.

Description: Much like the Mizu no Yaiba technique the user creates a sharp sword made of solid water in his/her hands, but unlike the Mizu no Yaiba technique the user compressed a lot more water into the sword than is required. As this uses much more control, the user is limited to weapons from the size of a small dagger to as large as a katana. By compressing the the water molecules together so much, the color of the water changes from a light blue to a dark blue almost black color. The compression also causes the molecules to vibrate giving the blade extra strength, sharpness and cutting ability. Myoumizu no Yaiba’s compression can be expressed as compressing a lake into a sword. The sword now cuts with the edge of a finely crafted blade. It can no longer be destroyed by any fire ninjutsu Stage 4 or under, and using it as a defensive sweep can negate stage 1 and 2 Fire ninjutsu. Because of the vibrating molecules, the sword can be destroyed by at least 3 hits of taijutsu strength of stage 5, but if a suitable sword style is known and proper blocking techniques are used then the sword may last longer (Taijutsu Stage 5 - min: 3 max: 5 | Stage 6 - min:2 max:3 | Stage 7 - one hit destroys it )

Name: Nai no Mizu (Water of the Dead)
Type: Ninjutsu

Description: The user forms chakra around his hand, then thrusts that hand into a large body of water eg. a dam or lake. The chakra then spreads through the body of water, greatly increasing the cohesion between water molecules. This causes the water to remain still, and therefore cannot be used as a source for ninjutsu techniques. This lasts for 4 posts.

Name: Myou Keimusho no Jutsu (Dark Prison Technique)
Type: Ninjutsu

Description: Can only be user when the opponent is submerged within a body of water. This technique then causes the water from the bottom of the lake to rise up and compress itself into a dark layer at the waters surface. The technique causes the crater formed by the missing water to act as a prison room, while the compressed layer acts as the “bars”. The opponent cannot see through the dark layer and neither can the user. The black layer of water is quite dense and therefore object/people/etc cannot pass through it. The layer can be broken by an appropriate technique of stage 5 or above, but when the technique is broken by such methods the water still uncompresses and crashed down on the opponent that would still be inside the crater. Also when the water rises up, the opponent falls to the bottom of the crater. This technique can be held for a maximum of 3 posts, before the water crashed back down on top of the opponent.

Description: Using one of the highest levels of water compression, the user compresses a lake’s worth of water into a black orb that can be held in this hand. This orb is constantly vibrating and waiting to burst with its torrential force. The user then thrusts the orb at an object/person/etc in a melee fashion, as the orb cannot leave the palm of the user. When the orb makes contact, it releases its fully compressed capacity of water in a massive torrential force.

Description: A technique whereby the user passively coats his body in a thin layer of vibrating chakra. This chakra resonates with the closely packed molecules of the “Dark Water” i.e. the compressed water, allowing the user to pass through as though the water was normal.

When the target emerges from the capsule of powder, their form will be a copy of someone the user desired them to look like, this includes clothes. The target will not be able to remove the technique, but it will wear off after 4 posts if the target rejects it, and after 6 posts if the target accepts the new form. This technique can be used to camouflage allies, or to cause confusion among enemy troops, etc. This technique has a maximum range of 2 metres.

Default Arrow Swaps

Jutsu Name: Amisousui no Jutsu (Net Leader Technique)

Requirements: Net and arrow
Description: The user uses chakra to link an arrow and net together, then fires the arrow towards the target which allows the links to expand the net as it follows the arrow. If the arrow hits then the net follows and ensnares the target. If the arrow misses or is dodged there is still a chance the target will be caught by the net, because it covers a wider area than an arrow. This technique effectively increases the range of casting/throwing a net, by piggybacking on an arrow. The drawback however is that the arrow flies at 80% of its normal speed due to the drag effect caused by the net. Furthermore the net is not sealed close and can be untangled and escaped in a few seconds by any logical person. The technique is mainly used to interrupt an opponent's actions or create a brief window of opportunity for attack.

Jutsu Name: Shiosuna no Jutsu (Salt Sand Technique)

Description: Developed in ancient times by Sand Shinobi who worked and guarded the salt mines scattered across the deserts of the Wind Country. Deep within the mines access to sand was limited and thus they devised the means to manipulate salt as an alternative for shinobi techniques. Salt however was a precious resource outside of the mines and thus forbidden to be carried around, which lead to the development of Shiosuna no Jutsu to create salt for usage outside of battle. By harnessing their affinity with mineral elements (such a chlorites, feldspar and crystal carbonates) commonly present in sand, the user draws out the sodium and chloride within combining them with chakra to form salt. Alternatively the user can draw these elements from the brine present in oceans as well as mineral-rich springs and lakes.
Base Effect: Can manipulate salt as an alternative to sand and create enough salt for Stage One Salt jutsu.
Stage Two Effect: Can create enough salt for Stage Two and Three Salt jutsu.
Stage Three Effect: Can create enough salt for Stage Four and Five Salt jutsu
For Stage Six and Seven techniques, the user must have access to a natural source of salt or brine.

A simple technique which creates a hook and line from salt that can be used for fishing.
Stage Three Effect: The technique is expanded upon to create a sickle and chain from salt with multiple uses; e.g. combat, restraint, climbing, etc. The items created are as durable as a steel sickle and chain. When salt weapons come into contact with open flesh or a wound it causes an extreme hypertonic effect resulting in excessive stimulation of the pain-sensing neurons (severe pain and burning sensations), but also leaving behind an anti-bacterial effect which causes salt weapon wounds to not become infected.

An evolution of Tsuriito no Jutsu, this technique was developed to catch and snare larger sea creatures such as seals and whales, but is suited for combat applications as well. After completing a series of hand seals, a meter long white harpoon and chain of salt launches from a nearby natural source of salt forming an anchoring point. The harpoon strikes with enough force to pierce through wood and stone and remain lodged, snaring its target to the source of the salt's anchoring point at its base. The anchoring point can be integrated into existing structures such as a ship or harbor pier. If a natural source of salt is not present the user can spend a single post to form an anchoring point using the Shiosuna no Jutsu, from which subsequent harpoons can be launched and anchored. The harpoon flies with a speed of 20 and would require a strength of 20 to remove it if the barbs remain intact, and a strength of 10 should the barbs be broken off first. If the harpoon is removed with the barbs intact it will cause tearing of the flesh and organs as it exits.The harpoon and chain are as durable as a steel harpoon and chain, and can be broken as such. When salt weapons come into contact with open flesh or a wound it causes an extreme hypertonic effect resulting in excessive stimulation of the pain-sensing neurons (severe pain and burning sensations), but also leaving behind an anti-bacterial effect which causes salt weapon wounds to not become infected.
Stage Five Effect: It can be used in conjunction with Shiosuna no Jutsu and a source of brine, in which case a large block of salt is created at the end of the chain to anchor the target down. It is particularly deadly when used in deep waters, as the large block sinks to the sea bed pulling it’s snared prey beneath the waters to drown.

Developed originally as a technique for the construction of naval vessels, but found far more application in combat. The user concentrates chakra around his palm/fist to form a serrated disc of salt that hovers 3 inches above it, after forming the disc begins to spin rapidly mimicking a circular saw. The radius of the disc is equal to the distance between the wrist and the tip of the middle finger. The technique only lasts for a maximum of three posts, but can end sooner if its radius is ground down sufficiently by a material harder than it can cut at the current stage. When salt weapons come into contact with open flesh or a wound it causes an extreme hypertonic effect resulting in excessive stimulation of the pain-sensing neurons (severe pain and burning sensations), but also leaving behind an anti-bacterial effect which causes salt weapon wounds to not become infected. Initially the the saw’s speed and strength is enough to cut flesh and wood cleanly, but can be blocked by stone, bone, metal and metal-equivalent ninjutsu and taijutsu techniques.
Stage Five Effect: At this stage the saw’s speed and strength is enough to cut stone and bone, but would require pressure and time to cut clean through. It can still be blocked by stone and bone, but would cause deep cuts due to pressure being applied from both sides in a block - subsequent blocks with the same item would cause a clean cut through the block.
Stage Six Effect: At this stage the saw’s speed and strength is enough to cut stone and bone cleanly, but metal would require pressure and time to cut clean through. It can still be blocked by metal, but would cause deep cuts due to pressure being applied from both sides in a block - subsequent blocks with the same item would cause a clean cut through the block.

Jutsu Name: Shioton: Akaei no Jutsu (Salt Element: Stingray Technique)

Developed as the salt answer to combat the dominant dragon techniques of the various elements. This technique creates a stingray from salt with a wingspan of 3 meters and length of 6 meters. The stingray can swim through salt, sand and water freely; but has limited flight and can only glide through the air after leaping from it’s prior medium. It moves with a speed of 20 (Speed levels according to the user's rank), and it’s wings have razor sharp edges that slash foes as it moves past. The Stingray can also be used to cover an area to protect it from ninjutsu and taijutsu techniques up to stage 4. When the razor edges come into contact with open flesh or a wound it causes an extreme hypertonic effect resulting in excessive stimulation of the pain-sensing neurons (severe pain and burning sensations), but also leaving behind an anti-bacterial effect which causes the wounds to not become infected.
Limitations:
The technique only lasts for a maximum of three posts.
Three stage 1 techniques would destroy it.
Two stage 2 techniques would destroy it.
One Stage 3 or 4 technique would destroy it.
Once assigned to defend an area, it cannot be redeployed to a new area or sent to attack again.
A user can only have one in existence at a time.

Default Advanced Salt Swaps

As I was writing up my new character I found that I was short a few salt swaps, so here are some more techniques to add to my current palette.

Jutsu Name: Shirosabi no Jutsu (White Rust Technique)
Stage: 2 (Merdle Rating)
Replacing:

Description: Originally used to free trapped anchors at sea, the technique was expanded upon to be used in combat. By manipulating salt content in water and increasing its distribution around a submerged metal object, the user can excite the salt ions to rapidly increase the oxidation rate in the area causing the metal to rust. Visibly the effects of the technique can be see as a thin white coating that appears in the affected area, and the longer the coating remains the more damage it can do. After one post weapons begin to dull, after two rust starts to form, after three posts metal becomes weak and easily broken, and after four posts it disintegrates and crumbles on its own. These effects last only as long as the coating remains in contact with the metal, and can be easily removed with a blade or sharp edged tool. The technique can only be initiated on a submerged object within 10 meters of the user, after which point the object can exceed the range and remain under the effect of the technique as long as the coating is intact. Player permission is required in order to use the technique on their weapons.
Stage 3 effect: The technique can now be used outside of water, by forming a crystalline shell of salt over the metal object. Without the presence of water, the rust effect is severely hampered and takes twice as long to produce results. After two posts weapons begin to dull, after four posts rust starts to form, after six posts metal becomes weak and easily broken, and after eight posts it disintegrates and crumbles on its own. The technique requires physical contact with the object to initiate, after which point the shell will rapidly expand from the initial contact area. These effects last only as long as the crystalline shell remains intact, and can be broken by a strength of 10.

Jutsu Name: Kekkai Houjin: Enbun Harai (Barrier Method Formation: Salt Exorcism)

The sea is a dangerous mistress and many have lost their lives to her, however not all who have fallen remain that way. Veteran sailors tell tales of ghost ships, spirit possessions and all manner of evils that lurk beneath the depths. To combat an epidemic of spirit possessions that caused havoc in the coastal towns of Wind, ancient shinobi combined the natural cleansing properties of salt with teachings of spiritual exorcism to develop a technique that could cleanse an area of spiritual energy. The technique starts with forming a border of salt around an area, usually a room or a circle of 3 m radius, and the border needs to be continuous without any gaps before proceeding. Chakra is then filtered into the border to lock it in place and a series of hand seals completed, before the border begins glowing with energy and a dome/cube of light erupts from the center of the border forcing out all spiritual energy or spirits as it expands to its maximum size an inch beyond the border. The construct of light then forms a barrier which prevents all spiritual energy or any spirit passing through it. This technique can completely block up to stage 5 Miko powers, but stage 6 or higher Miko powers will completely overwhelm it, breaking the seal and rending the barrier useless. The barrier remains as long as the border remains continuous, but even the slightest hole will end the technique and the entire process would need to be re-applied. The technique’s greatest flaw is that it has no influence over the material world and any non-spiritual entity can enter and break the border with ease, thus it has to be defended and maintained at all times. Most commonly it is used in conjunction with other barrier techniques to reinforce the border and protect it from physical threats.

Jutsu Name: Shioton: Ganshoukirai no Jutsu (Salt Element: Reef Mine Technique)

Description:
The Reef Mine Technique is one of the few naval combat jutsu developed in Kazegakure, but it is one of the most effective. After completing a series of hand seals, 4 spherical reef-like structures made of salt slowly arises from the ocean. The spheres have a diameter of 3 meters and are connected by 10 meter long salt chains. The mines are half submerged as they float, and covered with prongs and spikes of various shapes and sizes which are as hard as steel. When a ship passes through the chains, the mines on either side are drawn to the ship's hull and explode on contact. Typical impact or collision with a mass of at least 50 kgs will also trigger the mines. The mines explode with a kinetic strength of 4 explosive tags and send spikes and prongs in every direction. The blast radius of the mines are however only 4 meters, but the localized force of the explosion allow mines to explode independently of one another and cause greater damage to targets they makes contact with. Mines can remain for a maximum of 5 posts. At any time during the 5 posts after it has risen from the sea, the user can perform the tatsu/dragon hand seal causing all the mines to immediately explode. It is an effective trap that has defended the coasts of the Wind Country in ages past. This technique can only be used on the sea or a mineral-rich lake.
